Godspark
A downloadable game
Welcome to Ruina Dei
Ruina Dei. A purgatorial space of dead gods and living saints. You are a Saint, granted new life by the last of your god’s power, a godspark. That power is fading. Soon, your god will be gone, as will you. To survive, you will need to collect more godsparks. You do not need food. You do not need water. You do not even need air. You only need godsparks.
You will not be the only one looking for them. Other living saints of other dead gods travel the cracked surface of Ruina Dei, their eyes scouring the sunless sky above, waiting for the next godfall. When they spot a falling god, they race toward it, hoping to be the first to pillage godsparks from the corpse as the god’s last bits of energy spawn new saints and angels.
Saints will be left alone, as they will most likely fade before they understand what they are.
Angels are another story. These powerful creatures, bent on protecting their creators, refuse to be ignored. Either destroy them and take their sparks or run and hope they cannot find you.
Here you are, standing next to the corpse of your deity, their spark burning in your chest.
You must make your way through your god’s body and collect what scraps the other saints have left behind. You must move quickly, for you will need those sparks for what comes next.
A shadow looms high over the horizon.
What is Godspark?
Godspark is a tabletop adventure game for one or two players. You will explore Ruina Dei, a graveyard of the gods, searching the bodies of fallen deities for the godsparks (fragments of divine power) that allow you to stay alive. With enough godsparks, you can perform miracles, the magics of Ruina Dei.
With enough godsparks, you might be able to Ascend and leave this place forever.
What do you need to play?
- A deck of cards (52 standard playing cards)
- A few six-sided dice (at least one, but more is better)
- A printed Saint Sheet (a separate PDF is included with the game)
- Pencil or erasable pen
- 30-60 minutes of free time

hello! I supported this on kickstarter and just finished two games (I got the physical copy) on standard mode. I died in my first one but I won in my second with the Apostle Darla with me! One question… does our apostle also ascend with us 😭 I felt so bad leaving Darla behind haha. Also can apostles handle any attack from an angel as long as they don’t roll a one and end up with zero power? 🤔
Hello and thanks for playing! I gotta say, I did not consider what happened to the apostle after you ascend. Thinking about it now, I would say that in your ascended form, you could probably watch over Darla as she continues her journey to ascension. (Is this the plot of Godspark 2???)
As for the mechanical question, the idea was I did not want you to have to track Life for the apostles, so yes: as long as they don't roll a 1 and go down to zero power, they survived the attack (maybe it missed, maybe it was only a small injury, however you want to think about it).
that would be an interesting godspark part 2!!! 👀 and yes thanks for the clarification because Darla was being an absolute TANK (not) taking hits from an aspect that I wanted to check haha! By the way, if we were to write a short story/art based on the game or another god sheet as an add on to the game would that be ok?
That would be cool! I’d love to see what you come up with.
hey! is the game going to be availble in a physical edition later on? Current shipping cost to EU is cruel :(
Yes, I wish I could do something about the shipping costs. But you’re in luck! The game will be in the Lost Bay Studios shop once fulfillment of the Kickstarter is complete, and they have a much easier time with EU delivery. If you send me a message through the Contact form on my website, I can notify you when they are available.
That's really great news, I've had really pleasant experience with Iko and the Lost Bay Studios so far. Thank you, sending a message asap!
