You and your friends sit on the Student Council at Arbor Haven Magical Elementary School. You usually focus on mundane issues around the school, like kids leaving the bathroom stalls locked or someone conjuring bees on the playground, but today is different.

Today, something serious has happened.

Sprinkles, the school's mascot (who also happens to be a unicorn) is missing.

Despite vigorous discussion as to Sprinkles' whereabouts at the last Student Council meeting, the Principal did not appear concerned for Sprinkles' safety, nor did he take any action to locate said unicorn.

It is time to take things into your own hands.

Everyone in Arbor Haven knows Sprinkles, and no one has seen him in town. That leaves only one place for him to have gone...

The Forest is the source of the town's magic. It can be a little cranky at times (It won't even let anyone give it a name...but more on that later), so kids don't usually go there alone.

But today is not "usually."

Today is remarkable.

Today is exceptional.

Today is EXTRAordinary.

Why? Because

Sprinkles is Missing! is an all-ages tabletop role-playing game. The GM (the Principal) will guide the players (the Students) on an adventure through The Forest as they search for their school's missing mascot.

The game is a procedurally generated point crawl using stat-less, classed characters, a creative magic system, and a simple D6 dice pool resolution mechanic. What does that all mean?

  • Procedurally generated: the map that the adventurers explore is created on-the-fly by the Principal. The game supplies the rules and tables to randomly assign scenes to each point on the map.
  • Point crawl: a style of adventure game where important points are connected by paths that do not physically represent the intervening distances. You don't need to be a professional cartographer to draw the map. A circle with a number in it and a few lines to more circles with numbers in them is all you need.
  • Stat-less: there are no ability scores, skill trees, or even hit points. No numbers to keep track of. This keeps character creation quick and easy so you can jump right to the adventure.
  • Classed the characters don't have stats, but they do have classes. As in, their favorite classes. Would you play a Mathemagician? A Language Arts Witch? A Gym Class Warlock? Your favorite class determines the type of spells you can use.
  • Creative magic system: there are no 500-word spell descriptions. No Verbal/Somatic/Material component stipulations. The book comes with suggested spell types for each class, but they are meant to be open to interpretation. This game is about creative problem-solving, and nothing says creative like making up your own magic.
  • Simple D6 dice pool resolution system: to play this game, you only need standard six-sided dice (1 works, but having at least a couple for each Student is probably better).

New to TTRPGs? Worried you won't know how to use this book? Fear not! Sprinkles is Missing! is written to make it accessible for Game Masters of all levels of experience.

The A5 paperback version of the game is available at shop.mallenhall.com.

My kiddo and I have had a great time playing Sprinkles is Missing! The first time around was with her mom and grandmother (who is brand new to RPGs); much hilarity ensued. The kiddo just about couldn’t breathe at one point because she was laughing so hard!

For our second run, the kiddo teamed up with her cousin. We had a blast, and you can hear that laughter-infused, family-friendly play-through - plus our review - as episode 20 of the Almost Bedtime Theater podcast: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1505161/14226674

Thank you for creating such a wonderful game!
